The section of the Accademia della Crusca website called “Scaffali digitali” has been enriched over time, so much so that it has become one of the most appreciated and useful language resources on the Internet for scholars from all over the world. The report will illustrate the lines of action followed and tell the story of "Scaffali digitali", in parallel with the growing importance of IT resources applied to the humanities sector in the Italian cultural framework. The first phase of the “Shelves” reproposed the 5 editions of the Vocabulary of the Academy, an operation being completed. The report will therefore highlight how, around this fundamental nucleus of Italian lexicography transferred from paper to digital, a valuable collection of new vocabularies and tools has been formed (eg. ArchiDATA and the "Stazione lessicografica") or sometimes obtained through a policy of free exchanges with publishing (Tommaseo-Bellini and GDLI). The report will illustrate the difficulties encountered in transposing from paper to site, taking into account that digital is an approximation that is gradually improving, and the result is continuous innovation.
